Bathing in the tank at Srivilliputtur that Andal is said to have used, Ananthalvan seemed to search the floor. Asked what he sought, he said he was looking for any remnant of her sacred turmeric — tirumukkūṭam.
The episode is recorded in the Nālāyirappaṭi commentary on Tiruppāvai. His devotion did not pause to note that four millennia had passed. He is held an incarnation of Ādiśeṣa, who bears the Earth; Andal is Bhūmi-pirāṭṭi. Ramanuja himself was called Tiruppāvai Jīyar. Ananthalvan composed the Godā Catuślokī in her praise.
