After bathing in Svāmi Puṣkariṇī, Ananthalvan found his upper cloth caught in the ear of a tiger in a peepal. The animal did not move. Disciples said it wanted the touch of the cloth of one who could deliver it, and begged him to confer the heavenly boon.
He blessed the tiger and took back the cloth. The beast was found dead on the path; they performed caramakainkarya. In the garbhagṛha they saw the form of a tiger. The Lord said, with humour, “You have started blessing even tigers with moksha, which is difficult for Devas. What work will I have? Stay on the Hills; I may depart.” Ananthalvan answered that even this was only the Lord’s own grace, already promised to those associated with him.
